Opportunity for Citizen Support For America's Fire and Emergency Medical Services Through The Citizen Corps Initiative

WASHINGTON, D.C.—The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the United States Fire Administration (USFA) announce to the nation's fire and emergency medical services leadership and members, meaningful ways to seek and accept citizen support through the Citizen Corps initiative.

"It is imperative that we as America's firefighters and front line responders, undertake an effort to embrace this important Citizen Corps initiative. Citizen Corps has already begun to get Americans engaged in active support to their first responders," R. David Paulison, USFA Administrator said. "Further, the fire service support of Citizen Corps will also help American citizens become more active in preparing their families, their neighborhoods, and their communities for emergencies."

There currently are several major national initiatives underway. Information regarding these initiatives can be found at www.citizencorps.gov. There is further specific information for first responders will be on the United States Fire Administration's (USFA) web site, www.usfa.fema.gov.
